badges
Those of us who went to Haverings for the overnight camp 1st/2nd June 2007 all got our Outdoor Cook badge.   We cooked burgers on disposable BBQs from Friday night to go with Chips.   Then we cooked our own breakfast on Trangiers on Saturday morning.   We cooked egg, bacon and sausage, and for veggies, it was mushrooms.   Then we made our lunch, on open fires.   We collected wood, laid and lit fires and then cooked our lunch.   It was a choice, some of us made chicken and vegetable kebabs/sticks with rice, some chose chicken with carrots and potatoes etc.   Then for pudding it was chocolate fondue and fruit, or chocolate bananas, banana custard or apples with raisins and custard.   We all thoroughly enjoyed choosing and making our own food to get the badge.
Why not sew your badges onto your Guide uniform like Amy G?
Remember your Nights Away Badge (Anglia) and your Outdoor Pursuits Badge .... speak to Moley or Badger about how you are getting on.   You can always e-mail us.

Challenge badges
When you have been an active unit member for a year, you are expected to gain a Guide Challenge badge. This badge recognises the commitment you have given to guiding during the past 12 months, including your Patrol, the unit and the wider community.

In reviewing the criteria with your Patrol and the Leaders, you should demonstrate what you have gained from the year. The Leader should be able to see that personal development has taken place, and each year you receive a different pin badge.

The criteria for this badge are:

* Complete two Go For Its! with your Patrol and help decide what to do.
* Be a reliable member of your Patrol.
* Sign and keep the unit Guidelines.
* Do two activities outside your meeting place.
* Take part in a community action activity.
* Share with your Patrol your favourite guiding experiences over the past 12 months.

Leaders should ensure that gaining the Guide Challenge is a celebration of the guiding girls have enjoyed over the past year, acknowledging that 'long-term' commitment, at your age, is significant. But the Guide Challenge is NOT a birthday badge.
